GOLO gives back: 2026 Special Olympics Basketball State Tournament

On March 21, 2026, Special Olympics Delaware hosted its Basketball State Tournament at the University of Delaware’s Bob Carpenter Center in Newark, DE. The event brought together more than 600 players and coaches from across the state, along with school-based programs, for a day filled with competition, teamwork, and celebration.

Events like this serve as an important reminder of the power of understanding, acceptance, inclusion, and support in building lifelong healthy habits.

GOLO gets involved

GOLO was proud to be part of this meaningful and inspiring event and provided the GOLO Smart Card® for inclusion in the giveaway bags distributed to each participant. These cards were given to provide simple, practical guidance to help each athlete and their families make balanced food choices — supporting wellness both on and off the court.

At the heart of the GOLO Smart Card is the 2-1-2-1 approach, a straightforward way to build balanced meals without overcomplicating nutrition. The method encourages combining food groups in a way that supports sustainable weight management and improving overall health.

By offering an easy-to-follow framework, the Smart Card helps take the guesswork out of meal planning and empowers individuals to make choices that fuel their bodies for performance, recovery, and everyday life.

GOLO is honored to support organizations like Special Olympics Delaware that are committed to promoting health, inclusion, and opportunity.
